Album cover art

So nice to see some proper cover art for a change.
Bring forward all artists and designers!

These were all found on Phonica Records.

I rarely buy records anymore but I did buy the latest Massive Attack album - Heligoland.
Got a whole book full of wicked artwork by Robert Del Naja!

Elections '10

T.Wat

Very messy elections....
People shut out of polling stations.... people locked in..... run out of election notes.... followed by a blue majority. Where were all the yellow votes?

Re-election anyone?

So much trash. Cut a hole where his mouth is.

How are people allowed to vote anyway for such important matters when we apparantly need signs like these?

Bin them all here:

Elephant parade

I'm busy parading London with the family who were down for the auntie's wedding last night, so little busy here.

Did see some of the artist painted elephants around town, looking very pretty...
There are 260 individually painted animals around London and it is all to raise awareness for the beautiful, but endangered, Asian elephants.

And a good song.
It's not new, but good nontheless.

Gloomy day down south

London was gloomy today - cold, windy and wet.
But after reading about the Battersea Power Station I decided to head down there and have a look at the site.

Unfortunately the whole place is being restored/developed(?) so there is no access, but seeing that I have never been down the Battersea area, I had some good times anyway on my little 're-discovering London' mission...

In your face David!

Fancy cleaning your feet on a politician's face?
Which one would you step on?

Battersea Power Station

It is so beautiful, in a very strange way... I love this building. I love that it is empty and that it is abandonned. I love that they're using it as an urban space for the 'kids'.
But I realise that it is obviously going to be developed so I checked out the plans.
Perhaps not surprisingly; I don't like the plans very much...

In a typical city development kind of way it is going to be turned into a soulless estate in which all character and charisma is scraped off.
It is going to be surrounded by overprised restaurants and 'luxury flats' plus a high-street full of shops (Boots, TopShop and all that crap).
Basically it is going to be developed into a new Canary Wharf.

Don't get me wrong, I actually like Canary Wharf, but I only do because it is like going to a different city on the subway. The place does not really reprecent typical London, does it?

They talk about a "new energy for London" and "enhancing the quality of life for all who visit, work or live in the area", when all it will do is to create another bubble for the rich.
Or maybe the people of Wandsworth will get a nice, fat discount on the new designer-built appartments?

Couple of pics from the new plans:

If you, like me, don't really want to see this happening, you can have your say here.
